Was Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) a sinner?

From John of Damascus to current day Dr. Robert Morey and John Gilchrist, no civilization has started among the attackers of Islam, especially Christians. Since one thousand years, all of these missionaries recycle their junk again and again, so that some Muslim may fall in their trap.

Example include the Answering Islam and Islam Unveiled web sites.

On the Islam Unveiled web site, we have samples of grave accusations. Calling Muhammad and the Qur'an stupid, comparing Jesus and Muhammad and then calling Muhammad of "low quality," all such things will never change. "They have already blown with their mouths, but what their hearts conceal is much worst" (Holy Qur'an).

We now have to rebut those who quote Islamic traditions with dishonesty and say that "Muhammad was a sinner." Please chose:

Looking at the claims

If a Prophet prays, for example the following: "My Lord, forgive me, forgive my sins, the intentional and unintentional ones, my Lord please forgive me." Obviously, the attackers of Islam only see one statement here which is, "forgive my sins." This is their first allegation that Muhammad was a sinner. We will deal with this.

Their second "proof" is (allegedly) from the Qur'an. They say that "Allah told Muhammad in such and such Ayah to pray for forgiveness." This is their "proof." Insha'Allah, we will also deal with this.

A General but Conclusive Argument

Yes, the hadith and Ayahs which they quote exist. But the problem is that they misinterpret the hadith and Ayahs. Believe me, any serious scholar can easily rebut them. I once asked my cousin, who is well grounded in Islam, to open a web site in response to the attacks on Islam. His answer was, "Its a waste of time. Even if we take time to try to answer them, it won't make any difference. The word that is the sayings of our Prophet must be fulfilled, Islam will increase and overwhelm all other religions, and as you see, it is now increasing day by day, and its overwhelming."

The simple answer to Christian Missionaries is that Muhammad (peace be upon him) asked for forgiveness because he was not proud. A living example can be found in the Holy Qur'an. The Holy Qur'an tells us in Surah Al-Baqarah that Iblis, Satan, was once in the company of the righteous. But he was very proud to ask for forgiveness or any thing else. When Allah asked him to prostrate before Adam, he didn't and answered that he is "made of fire whereas Adam is made of clay." Because of this, Allah expelled him out of Paradise.

So, if the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) ever tried to boast about himself about being sinless, then of course, Allah would have punished him and expelled him from the position he was in! It is quite clear that no Prophet ever tries to boast. It was natural for him to ask for forgiveness.

Take another example, if you know that you are sinless, then what would you do? Would you just stop praying to God?! Of course not, you would pray to Allah Almighty and still ask for forgiveness of sins.

Apply to Moses (peace be upon him)

Another example to continue my above argument. The Qur'an tells us that Prophet Moses (peace be upon him) accidentally committed a murder. But later, he asked for forgiveness of his sins and Allah forgave him. Know, instead of applying stupid thoughts on Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) through the Qur'an, why don't Christian Missionaries apply the same method on Prophet Moses (peace be upon him) through the Qur'an?

As for answer to the above about Prophet Moses (peace be upon him), the Christian Missionary would simply say, "The Qur'an is not God's Word so I will not apply it to Moses." This is a convenient answer for themselves and other enemies of Islam, but what does the Old Testament tell us about the accidental murder which Moses (peace be upon him) committed?

One day, after Moses had grown up, he went out to his people and saw their forced labor. He saw an Egyptian beating a Hebrew, one of his kinsfolk. He looked this way and that, and seeing no one he killed the Egyptian and hid him in the sand. When he went out the next day, he saw two Hebrews fighting; and he said to the one who was in the wrong, "Why do you strike your fellow Hebrew?" He answered, "Who made you a ruler and judge over us? Do you mean to kill me as you killed the Egyptian?" Then Moses was afraid and thought, "Surely the thing is known." When Pharaoh heard of it, he sought to kill Moses. (Exodus 2: 11-15)

It is clear from the Bible that Moses KNOWINGLY murdered a man! So why don't Christian Missionaries, before attacking Islam, consider their own Scriptures?

Conclusion

Before attacking Islam and its Prophet, why don't the enemies of Islam consider their own Scriptures? They don't, because they are too proud to do so and think that they are from their birth on the right way, just as Satan did when he was in Paradise as the Qur'an informs us. The people of the Book (the current day corrupted pieces of the Torah and the Injil) are on the way on which Satan was, and soon Allah will expel them from the condition that they are in!

Final Question?

People of the Book, tell me clearly that why do you attack me, my religion, my great Prophet? Do you attack me, my religion, my great Prophet for no other reason that we are Muslims?
